From the Philippines to the Middle East, across both telecommunications and defense sectors, Viettel High Tech (VHT) continues to demonstrate its robust R&D capabilities to international partners and industry experts. Global praise and growing trust from stakeholders serve as a springboard for VHT’s expansion, reinforcing Vietnam’s position on the global map of technological innovation.
Pioneering 5G Technology with Qualcomm
At the launch event of the world’s first commercialized 5G base station co-developed by VHT and Qualcomm, using Qualcomm’s ASIC chipset, Gerardo Giaretta, Qualcomm’s Vice President of 5G Infrastructure, summed up VHT’s engineering team in a single word: “ambition.”
International experts attending the event lauded VHT’s successful development of a 5G Massive MIMO 32T32R base station built to Open RAN (ORAN) standards—an achievement that requires deep technical expertise and global-level capabilities. The milestone underlines VHT’s competitiveness in the global telecommunications landscape.
Securing International Defense Contracts
In the defense sector, VHT signed a training simulation contract with ContactPoint Inc., a Philippine-based company, after CEO Cesar Manuel visited Vietnam to personally test VHT’s shooting simulation system. Despite exploring offerings from leading global manufacturers, Manuel found that none could match VHT’s ability to customize features to meet the Philippines’ specific requirements—while offering a more cost-effective solution.
Just six months after delivering the first three systems, ContactPoint and the Philippine National Police signed a second contract. End-users gave highly positive feedback, further validating the system’s quality and performance.
Expanding Telecom Operations in the Middle East
In May 2024, VHT signed a cooperation agreement with High Cloud Technologies, a Middle Eastern telecom operator, during the Asia National Defense and Security Exhibition in Malaysia. Following a visit to VHT’s headquarters and inspections of 4G and 5G base stations in Vietnam, High Cloud expressed full confidence in VHT’s capabilities.
The partnership resulted in a $1.1 million contract for VHT’s 4G and 5G base stations, supporting High Cloud’s efforts to lead the Middle Eastern telecom market and opening doors for future collaborations in the region.
Strategic Alliances with Global Defense Leaders
At the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, Belgian defense firm John Cockerill Defence, known for its advanced weapon systems, signed a cooperation agreement with VHT on the first day of the event.
James Caudle, Regional CEO for Asia-Pacific, praised VHT as a fast-growing technology company with exceptional expertise. He highlighted VHT’s radar and sensor technologies as particularly impressive and expressed optimism for broader future cooperation.
Strengthening Global Presence Through Defense Exhibitions
May 2024 marked VHT’s third appearance at major international defense exhibitions within two years, with its participation in the Asia National Defense and Security Exhibition. Each event has strengthened VHT’s reputation, with its manufacturing capabilities and product quality receiving high praise from both senior Malaysian military officials and international industry partners.
