On December 2nd, in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, VTV24 News Center introduced the SU30-MK2 fighter jet simulation system, developed by Viettel High-Tech Industries Corporation. This cutting-edge system has been praised for its outstanding features and proven effectiveness in combat training for the Vietnam People’s Air Defense - Air Force.
Unlike the Russian-made cockpit simulator, which provides only a single training module for two pilots, Viettel engineers have created a state-of-the-art Simulation Training Center with 12 training cockpits, fully integrated with a ground control station that mirrors the organizational structure of a fighter regiment.
This advanced center not only enhances pilots’ flying skills and experience but also supports training for ground command crews, organizes formation flight operations, and enables practice for complex air combat scenarios—capabilities the Russian simulator cannot offer.
A standout feature of Viettel’s SU30-MK2 simulator is its fully localized user interface and control software. Scenarios, flight parameters, weather conditions, and weapon configurations can be set up swiftly and easily by technicians, ensuring seamless and efficient training sessions.
This achievement establishes Vietnam as the second country in the world, after Sukhoi, to successfully develop a training simulator for the fourth-generation SU30-MK2 fighter jet. Notably, it is the only system globally that allows simultaneous training for pilots and ground forces within a unified training scenario.
In 2024, Viettel’s SU30-MK2 Simulation Training System earned second prize at the 24th Youth Creativity Award in the Military. This accomplishment not only showcases the pride of Vietnam’s defense industry but also highlights the technological mastery of the nation’s young engineers.
